Sascha Just teaches Film Production, – History, and – Analysis, Theater History and Analysis, and communication classes such as Intercultural Communication, Public Speaking, and Group Communication.
In her film production classes—while offering an overview of diverse production methods and systems from Hollywood to Bollywood— Sascha focuses on independent filmmaking. Through writing, directing, producing, and editing their own short films, students learn every step of the production process from start to finish.
As a theater and film historian in her academic seminars, Sascha particularly engages with culture through the lens of world theater and cinema, yet she also refers to the visual arts, music (especially jazz), pop culture, and contemporary politics. While she uses lectures to impart information and train listening skills, overall Sascha’s teaching style is interactive and collaborative with discussions and (group) exercises that foster critical thinking and encourage students to learn to teach each other.
Sascha teaches her communication classes as workshops. Students learn by doing: She alternates improv, voice, and articulation exercises with individual or team writing and presenting assignments to help students overcome stage fright, engage with their audience, communicate effectively in teams, and structure and write lively presentations.
Sascha is available for small and large group classes as well as for individual coaching sessions.
